Minister - AUTHOR - Musician
Anthony Acheson was born in Yonkers, NY in 1947, and grew up near New York City. He graduated (cum laude, 1965) from St. Mark’s School in Southborough, Massachusetts. He then earned a BA in Social Relations from Harvard College (cum laude, 1970) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a Master of Divinity from the Episcopal Divinity School (1976), also in Cambridge. He was ordained a minister in 1977 in the United Church of Christ (UCC), a nondogmatic and inclusive Protestant denomination.
Since ordination, Rev. Acheson has led several UCC congregations, as well as one Unitarian-Universalist church, in the Midwest and New England, including his final pastorate, of nearly seventeen years, in Greensboro, Vermont. He is also a lifelong musician who has recorded a CD of original compositions, and is currently recording new works.
Since retiring from pastoral ministry in 2015, Rev. Acheson continues to live in Vermont, and is active as a guest speaker, workshop leader, and writer. He and his partner have a daughter born in 1984, and three granddaughters.
